3 Stacks Richer

Well just when you thought it was safe, rap royalty André 3000 (one half of the rap duo Outkast) gives eager fans a new offering with his latest mixtape, Three Stacks. The timing of this mixtape couldn't be better on the heals of the announcement of a new Outkast album coming out in 2012. Now, upon first listen and even just taking a look at the track listing for this album, you may notice that most of these songs are nothing new. In fact, most of the songs on this mixtape are tracks that André 3000 has collaborated on in the last few years. So that may be a downside for some. But let's take a look at the plus sides sides to this mixtape: 1) It's André 3000's latest hits all in one place, 2) No commercial interruption. Yes, no deejay name drops every 5 seconds and no lame skits, just the hits, and 3) It's F-R-E-E!!! For true André 3000 fans like myself, you'll find some dearly missed tracks on here such as 'Royal Flush' and 'Lookin 4 Ya' which may never see any radio play and will forever belong in mixtape land. You'll also find some tracks that may be new to you such as Ciara's 'Ride It remix,' re-imagined by producer Bei Maejor. Another stand out song is 'All Together Now,' a track that has the charisma and light n' fluffy feel that hits like 'Hey Ya' might have given you back in 2003.
Long story short, this mixtape should sit in your music collection like a polished trophy; a prize to remind you of the hits that Mr. André '3-Stacks' himself has produced collaborating and on his own over the last few years, even though most would believe he hasn't been relevant in rap for sometime now. Here's your proof.
