It has come to my attention that there is a real lack of creativity in the marketing of music today. While there is no shortage of club-ready records, 'pop'tastic bands, and soulful music in any genre for you to rock to, there is one key component lacking in most artists' repertoire: a great music video. Since the debut of the first music video on music television (MTV), 'Video Killed the Radio Star' by the Buggles, the art of the music video has become a timeless way of creating a visual experience of a song or even an entire album. Michael Jackson, Super-producer Prince Paul, and Kanye West are examples of artists who used the music video medium to create a short film for their albums. But there is hope for the art of video-making. A handful of artists still realize the importance of a great video coupled with a great song, and I wanted to take this Wednesday to show some love to videos that have really captured my attention in the last several years. And these videos are great for many reasons such as cinematography, story-telling, and stunning visuals. A video will always leave a lasting impression, sometimes more than the song itself.
