Many superheroes movie have been flooding the box office and theaters in the past decade. From the success of X-Men and Batman, Marvel and DC have been on a steady race to bring you the best of what classic heroes have to offer onto the big screen. What makes these movies and tales of super-powered beings so appealing is the fantasy that one day a normal person can become something more than himself or something to be feared; plus the great action that comes along with it. However what would happen in modern day if super-powers were discovered by ordinary, everyday people; teenagers especially. In the science fiction film Chronicle, set to release February 3, 2012, director Josh Trank sets to show a more realistic approach to a comic driven theme; What happens when you can do anything?
The movie is shot in found-footage format and set in modern-day time. Centering on three teenage boys who discover they have the power of invulnerability and telekinesis, the film seeks to demonstrate what would more realisticly happen when someone is given absolute power. From the looks of the trailer, everything seems to be going fine for the boys until one becomes completely corrupt. What starts as small time pranks and jokes, soon takes a turn for the worse and disturbed when one purposely takes the lives of innocent people. Although it seems targeted more towards a teen audience and science fiction fans, I think that this movie should prove to have great special effects and some good action.
