Female Emcee’s making a steady comeback

There has been a steady progression of female emcees dropping new and addictive tracks over the past few years. It is good to see more girls in the game. Even though Nicki is never a sight for sore eyes, her sound is more pop and commercial then other emcees. From searching around different blogs, I happen to come across this North Carolina bred artist Rapsody. Her new mixtape For Everything is her third solo release album and offers the listener14 tracks produced by 9th Wonder. With tracks featuring Kendrick Lamar, GQ of Jamla, Bluu Suede of 6th Street Records, and Freeway.
This mixtape is definitely something to look out for. Rapsody’s smooth and real lyrics flow well with the chill, laid back beats. There is no stand out track because they all let you into the mind and world of the female emcee. Her sound is similar to other rappers, such as Jean Grae, but is on a more serious and confessional level. Her delivery, her sound, and lyrics give the listener a creative look into the struggle but hopeful life of this female rapper.
