Chitown keeps putting out talent

After much searching and reading, Omen's Afraid of Heights. has been heavily promoted on a lot of blogs and websites. This Chicago born and bred emcee has worked with the likes of J.Cole and Eric Roberson and draws much inspiration from other Chitown artists like Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco. His sound is very beat driven and melodic. With catchy metaphors and a soulful sound, he borrows many lines from his other influences like Common and Kanye West. This album is a solid work from the rapper and gives the listener a good introduction to the struggle this artist has gone through in pursuit of his passion for making music. Lyrically he reminds me of Common with a passion and smooth delivery of J.Cole and Lupe Fiasco over a soulful, harmonic instrumental. With features from Shalonda, Kendrick Lamar, Eric Roberson, and J.cole to name a few, this album is definitely a great effort that every lover of Hip-hop should enjoy. Although some tracks do sound a little amateur, the overall is worth a listen.
