For some time now, mainstream music has focused more on the club scene and a pop sound. For an R&B junkie like myself, I have missed the days of the past where music had more soul and depth. While tuning into the radio station awhile ago, I came across the Baltimore native singer Cj Hilton. He started his career at a young age of 13 and has worked with great acts, such as Mario, Raphael Saadiq, and Stevie Wonder. Receiving a Grammy nomination and dropping a mixtape before he was even the age of 21, Cj Hilton is on his way to becoming a superstar. This soft, relaxing soul singer plans to drop his debut album later this year and has already been promoting his singles with accompanied videos on youtube. His voice and flow is very reminiscent to the neo-soul/R&B of the old days and is refreshing to hear nowadays in a industry saturated with auto-tune vocals over a synthesized club beat.
