Homeward Bound

For those who were able to make it through the fail that was the AMA’s, or Jennifer Lopez comeback special, this year were able to see and hear the world premiere of Will.I.Am.’s new song “T.H.E (The Hardest Ever) from his upcoming creatively titled solo album #WillPower. The track stays true to the techno/dance influenced sound that the producer has found from his hit singles with other artists, such as Usher (“O.M.G.”), Nicki Minaj (“Check it Out”), and the group Black Eyed Peas. With a chorus from Jennifer Lopez and sample hook vocals from Mick Jagger (randomly a recent obsession in pop music ), the song proclaims that you either go all the way “hard” or go home. The word “hard” has been thrown around a lot over the past decade. It has multiple meanings, one of which has to do with male or female genitalia, but in this song I am assuming he means another definition. To me “goin’ hard” basically means to put all your energy and drive into something without any regret. It is a shallow term that is commonly used for partiers and, in “T.H.E.” case, with a electronic driven beat behind it doesn’t really give it any deeper meaning. According to his Twitter page, the video is suppose to drop soon and I hope it has visuals that “go hard” because even though the song is catchy, Will.I.Am can go harder.
