I debated for awhile to even mention or talk about this, but after about 2 minutes of thinking I decided to finally make a little post about the couple prone to controversy; Rihanna and Chris Brown. Mostly known for their less than healthy relationship and highly publicized Ike and Tina-esque break-up, the two continue to stir the rumor mills that they are back together by doing remixes to both their newest singles "Turn Up the Music" and "Birthday Cake".
Rihanna was the first to release the long anticipated completion to her raunchy "Birthday Cake" from Talk That Talk on her birthday. What made the internet and Twitter practically go nuts is the fact that she decided to throw Brown on the track for a verse and some yodeling. Chris later followed by releasing the remix to his latest hit "Turn Up the Music" off his upcoming LP Fortune, dropping later this year. The "Birthday Cake" remix was long awaited and the track is not bad. It will get some club rotation but I do not see it being a huge hit, plus Brown's "sex-appeal" is kind of corny. I think Trey Songz would have been a better singer or Wale for a hot 16. Brown's "Turn up the music" remix is not that different of a song with Rihanna on it, seemed a little pointless. The fact that she fuels their rumored "make-up" by continuously saying that she loves him/misses him just adds to the lack of respect for fans. Now I am not here to judge really and what these two decide to do behind close doors is really their business, but they should have came out with another track together titled "Gotcha, America!"
After such a intense break-up and Rihanna becoming as much of a role model for young female fans by not going back, it is either a desperate attempt to keep names in tabloids or a form of guilt for allegedly also hitting/instigating the fight the night before the Grammy's. The only advice that I can recommend for the dysfunctional couple is that Chris still has "throwing water coolers" anger issues that he still needs to work out and Rihanna needs to be mindful of her fanbase. For a subpar singer with limited dance moves, her fanbase and looks, and now controversy, are the only things keeping her pockets fat and name in headlines. To turn your back on the ones who look up to you and make you rich is like biting the hands that feeds you. Forgiveness is a noble and beautiful thing, but can you really work and forgive someone you know really hasn't changed?
