Living Carefree

Like Ebert and Roeper or Redman and Methodman, some matches are just meant to be. In this case, the infamous pot-smokers Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa have paired up for an upcoming film "Mac and Devin Go To High School." A match only a weed head would probably think of in a chronic induced chat, this album embodies the element of the lead single "Young, Wild, and Free" but lyrical is still lyrically strong. The collaborations between the two MC's takes on the academic theme from the movie with tracks like "Talent Show", "Let's Go Study" (a play on words of the young term for a relationship), and "World Class." Although school oriented, majority of the album focuses on the wonderful herb that Wiz has dedicated his last album to and that Snoop has openly advocated for multiple years. With features from Mike Posner, Curren$y, Juicy J, and the soulful pop sounds of Bruno Mars on the hooks of the lead song "Young, Wild, and Free," this album is actually solid collaboration from the two low-key, amiable personality rappers. Not a classic rap album, considering that it is a soundtrack from a "How High" inspired school flick, but more than just a high-grade marijuana flick gimmick. Snoop and Wiz come correct with this LP, while still maintaining the casual, light attitude that makes this album a good listen. I doubt this pair will continued to make collab albums, but definitely give a good effort of Method Man and Redman meets Cheech and Chong with more street credibility.
