For years Wiz Khalifa has been yelling out "Taylor Gang! Taylor Gang" throughout his tracks and mixtapes but, when I asked around, no one could really tell me who or what exactly Taylor Gang was. Now it is nothing new in Rap culture to bring up your boys or people you have worked with during an artist's climb to fame. Nelly had the St. Lunatics, Mc Hammer had all of Oakland, and Khalifa has Taylor Gang. With The Cookout, fans are finally getting to hear the voice of one of the members of Taylor Gang besides Wiz; Chevy Woods. Although Wiz is on 8 of the 11 tracks, this mixtape is a smooth project that reminds me of the sounds of West Coast, laid back influenced rappers, such as Snoop Dogg or Warren G. Don't sleep on this dude, I hope to hear more from him in the future.
