Off of The Weeknd's latest mixtape, DJ JayBeatz mashes up "Dirty Diana" ft. Michael Jackson. This is one of the best tracks on the mixtape and this remix does it justice. At times I found it hard to tell the difference between the two singers, but no one can top the king. "Dirty Diana" was definitely not one of MJ's greatest songs and this remake will probably not be as big either, but is still a great tribute/rendition of the late artist's track.
Hate it or Love it, the somber and emotional sounds of The Weeknd have been on steady replay on my iTunes for some time now. The ever changing tone of his voice and haunting yet melodic beatsare just a few reasons why this artist has been an underground favorite for awhile now. Recently he released his new mixtape Echoes of Silence and continues his trippy, R&B vibe from previous works in the trilogy (House of Ballons and Thursday). Starting with a bass heavy, great remake to Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana" Echoes follows the same theme of sex, drugs, and good times that The Weeknd has focused on in previous works. Later switching up the style with some of the best produced tracks "XO/Host" and "Initiation", he later comes down from the high to finish with a soft, piano-tinged title track "Echoes of Silence."
At this point if you are not a fan of The Weeknd, then you are definitely missing out on some great music. In a time where R&B is nothing more than synthesized dance beats and vixens wailing thirst driven lyrics, Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd takes a different more sophisticated approach to the same effects of love, partying, and drugs has on the everyday person.
Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd has been making some noise over the past year with his mix-tape Thursday and his features on Drake's song "Crew Love." This Ethiopian Canadian singer is back with a new leaked track "Party." Sticking to the celebrating and weekend theme, the song is more of a different sound from the contemporary R&B singer. Mixed with some guitar rips and even a rap, The Weeknd gives a more pop -oriented sound and commercial appeal. Not his best but good effort on trying something different.
