From Sade, Joss Stone, Amy Whinehouse, and even Adele, the UK has been a melting pot of soul and jazz music that has caught the attention of many American fans. What some may lack in melanin, they make up in soul and sound. Although it is not very common to see male R&B singers make international-crossover commercial success, the artist Daley recently dropped a new mixtape Those Who Wait. Although he has been in the music industry for only 2 years, he has already worked with great acts such as David Banner and Estelle on the track "Benz." I first heard of this Manchester, UK native from his feature on the Gorillaz's 2010 sleeper-hit "Doncamatic." I admit, at first I wasn't sure what to think of the singer from the feminine sound on the vocals and chorus but his soft voice did not take away from the catchiness and fresh sound of the track. Now stepping out with a new EP, Daley wants show more of what he is about and why he stands different from a Daniel Merriweather or even Phil Collins. He is bringing the sound of soul and pop, from a different perspective with production from ELEMENT and featuring Marsha Ambrosius on "Alone Together." This is a solid effort from the UK singer and shows an eclectic sound he has to offer with some tracks that are soft rock, R&B, pop, and jazz but still keeps a calm, laid back listen with his soulful voice (this becomes more apparent with his cover of Maxwell's hit "Pretty Wings"). For 10 tracks, Those Who Wait is a clear introduction to the singer and worth a listen, if not to get to know who Daley is than to at least set the mood.
