Now Introducing…Entrance Music Top 20

This weekend I had the great privilege (just the tiniest bit of sarcasm in that voice) of attending my first official mixed martial arts (MMA) sporting event. I’ve always had a love for watching the UFC, Pride, and other organizations that promote MMA, and it was really crazy to see these guys fight in person. Trust me: the hits land a lot harder than you think. Anyway, among all the craziness of local fan fair, there was one thing that really stuck out in my mind: the entrance music for the fighters. For every fighter that came out to the ring, I heard everything from Pearl Jam to Lil Scrappy. One of the fighters even had Ke$ha’s song ‘tick tock’ playing for entrance music (no seriously).  Now that guy did win his fight, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that his entrance music sent the wrong message all together. Even from when I was younger growing up watching WWF wrestling, we can all agree that menacing and melodic tunes are the easiest way to be recognized by the audience and to strike fear in your opponent. Now Ke$ha may strike fear in all of us, but there are more songs out there to properly introduce you to your eagerly awaiting fans. So without further ado and in no particular order, here’s my Top 20 List of all time Best Entrance Music Theme Songs:
1) Drowning Pool – ‘Let the Bodies Hit the Floor’
Nothing says I love you than having a guy screaming about killing people.
Listen

2)  Bill Conti – ‘Gonna Fly Away’
This is the always-classic Rocky theme song. But be warned: you better have the fighting skills to back it up after playing this song.
Listen

 3)   Christian Poulet & Jean-Yves Rigo – ‘Invasion’
This is WCW/WWF wrestler Goldberg’s theme music. He was unstoppable on the show and the music fit perfectly.
Listen

 4)    Rage Against the Machine – ‘Bulls on Parade’
Yes, there are about a dozen tracks from this band that would be fitting for an entrance theme, but this one rocks the hardest.
Listen

 5)  Johnston – ‘If You Smell’
C’mon son: he’s the most electrifying man in sports period. Can’t leave this one out.
Listen

 6)   Papa Roach – ‘Last Resort’
Not a huge fan of Papa Roach, but this song is perfect to get the crowd hype.
Listen

7) Black Sabbath – ‘Iron Man’
Once that first guitar starts wailing, you know you’re in trouble. Either that or someone is watching the Iron Man dvd.
Listen

Yup, it’s definitely the baseline: get’s you every time. Put this track on and I guarantee greeks will start stepping.

Corny-ass emcee: yes. Hard-ass song: yes. Gotta give him props or at least give creadit to Lex Luger on the beat.
Listen

This song rocks out, period. Can’t beat that.
Listen

11) Foo Fighters – ‘My Hero’
